Paul Tupper is a visual artist based in Burnaby. He uses a combination of drawing, painting, and digital methods. Pieces begin and end with an actual physical production, but are developed through dialogue with an artificial intelligence system trained on his own drawings. His work takes inspiration from nightmares and hallucinations, cryptids, science fiction, memories of childhood, and our relationship with animals.

Paul graduated with a PhD in applied mathematics from Stanford in 2002, and has since worked as a researcher and professor. In 2015 he started taking classes in drawing and painting at the Shadbolt Centre in Burnaby and the Port Moody Arts Centre. He collaborates with Roquela Fernandez as 1001demons, producing a line of graphic t shirts featuring their illustrations of demons.
